Annie grew up in Dallas, TX and moved to Columbia, SC in 2003, where she discovered her yoga home at City Yoga with her primary teacher, Stacey Millner-Collins. She completed the Carolina Teacher Training in 2010 and taught a range of classes and workshops at City Yoga from 2005 until 2013 when her family relocated back (home!) to Dallas.
Annie’s teaching is fueled by a desire to widely share the empowering properties of yoga. Students enjoy her creative teaching of alignment and her blend of yoga philosophy and modern psychology into the sequences. She encourages students to live their yoga in all facets of their lives and is far more interested in how yoga is influencing life off the mat than whether students can touch their toes or not.
Besides teaching yoga, Annie is a community psychologist and a program evaluator. She works primarily with schools on issues ranging from academic achievement, teenage pregnancy, substance abuse, high school drop-out, gang violence and housing. This work allows her to actively pursue and promote positive social change on a range of issues that she cares deeply about.
She has found yoga asana, meditation and philosophy to provide deep contentment and stillness in the midst of a busy modern life.
