I’m Soraya Elowen, a fitness enthusiast and longtime teacher of yoga and breath-led movement.
Back in 2016, I joined a yoga workshop that shifted the way I approached teaching and living. It was led by Jen, the original founder of this site and director of LotusYogaDallas. Her teaching style was grounded, kind, and focused on helping people connect with their bodies—something that stuck with me.
Jen launched this site in 2011 as an extension of her studio, offering thoughtful yoga to people at all levels. Over the years, she was supported by a small team of teachers and contributors who shared her values and helped shape this space into a warm, welcoming hub for movement and breath.
In early 2024, Jen let me know she was stepping away from full-time teaching and wanted someone to take care of the work she had started. We met that February, and by March, I was given the honor of continuing the site’s work.
Since then, I’ve been working carefully to hold onto what makes this space meaningful, while also opening it up to other wellness topics, like mobility, strength, recovery, nutrition, and fitness for all stages of life.
Jen’s message was always clear: yoga is for everybody. That guiding principle still lives here today.
You will still find references to her teachings throughout this site. Mary Lee’s adaptive work and Jordan’s practical insight remain as well. Now, you will also see articles and guides from a team of experienced professionals. Each team member offers something to help you move with more care and confidence.
This is not a restart. It is a natural continuation of a practice that grows with you.
This space was built with care. That has not changed.
You may be starting slow, returning after a break, or looking for something new. We are here to support you in your movement practice. Every step counts, and you do not have to take them alone.
